Perth & Kinross Horsewatch

Horsewatch is a scheme set up to connect horse owners and riders with the intention of improving our security and communication.  They aim to reduce rural and equine crime, and, just like Neighbourhood Watch, much can be achieved through general awareness and a little effort from each individual.  The scheme is nationwide and supported by most police forces.  Each area has local groups, run by a co-ordinator, who acts as your first point of contact.

You do not have to own a horse to become involved.  Horsewatch welcomes all horsey people whether you just ride occasionally or own the local livery yard.  By banding together everyone can become more alert to what is going on locally or nationally.

This is where Perth & Kinross Horsewatch come in.  Working with Tayside Police (Western Division) they plan to give all members access to the police VIP informer system.  This system sends messages electronically to the telephone number of each member in that group.  These messages will be of a crime prevention nature or look-out requests for stolen horses or property.  They hope to supply members with a newsletter and will be distributing leaflets, contact numbers and offering advice on security.
